The Star Solutions SS3100 PDSN provides a seamless interface between any 1XRTT and EV-DO Rev 0 and Rev A radio access network and the core IP network. It manages PPP sessions between the mobile handset and the core IP network per CDMA2000® 3GPP2 standards. The SS3100 also supports HA functionality to enable Mobile IP and roaming data services.

PLATFORM FLEXIBILITY

Star Solutions understands that customers do not all share the same network architecture. For some, deploying a high-density PDSN in the core network is necessary for the operation of their network. For others, deploying PDSNs as far out to the edge of the network as possible is necessary to provide the optimum customer experience for premium content services, such as VoIP, Peer-to-Peer data and streaming media. And even as the network grows and changes, customers may need to adjust their network architecture.

The SS3100 PDSN has been designed to fit whichever network the customer chooses. Being highly scalable, it lends itself to deployment in either a centralized or distributed architecture. The same SS3100 PDSN used in the distributed configuration can be converted to a centralized configuration without changing the software or the hardware. The service provider purchases capacity and features only as needed in their network, allowing the operator to expend capital as revenue from subscribers grows.
